The Garage, Motherwell - Tuesday, 18th of March 2008
One of my early memories of Strathclyde Park (the birthplace for this site) was a metallic red Nissan Skyline. Back in a time when a clean XR3i would get both sexes wet, a Skyline was something that dreams were made of. As I later found out the car in question belonged to the owner of The Garage in Wishaw, Marc Light. Since then he's been a constant evangelist of performance tuning and even appeared on BBC radio with me a good few years ago to talk about the merits of modified cars when the public would rather brand everyone a boy racer.
Marc and The Garage have evolved over time and from their small garage workshop on Kirk Road they have moved twice in the last 5 years, on to bigger and better things with each progression. Having just settled in to their new dwellings in Ellison Court in Motherwell (well, just a baw hair outside Wishaw really) we thought it was time to let everyone know about their new location and what they can do.

Transformers Mustang Clone - Tuesday, 18th of March 2008
There's no way you'd get away with this in the UK but over in America an ex-soldier decided to treat his kid by converting his 2007 Mustang into a replica of Barricade from the first Transformers movie. He consulted with his local police department and although they weren’t keen, they said there was nothing against the law about the idea - the only stipulation was about impersonating a police officer, not their vehicles.
FastCar April Edition - Tuesday, 18th of March 2008
Yumyum's scrummy Teg turbo graces the pages of this month's FastCar magazine along with newly crowed Miss FC 2008, Holly Newberry. This month's cover mount gift is a set of magic 8 ball styled alloy valve caps, sure to be a playground favourite when they get nicked off your wheels within 3 minutes of you fitting them
The TopGear photoshoppers have built (virtually) what they reckon the forthcoming Focus RS will look like. For the gossip and pics click the following link.
Transformers II - June 2009 - Tuesday, 18th of March 2008
If you were as impressed as we were with last year's Transformers movie (enough to A) see it in the cinema and B) actually buy the DVD set instead of torrenting it) then the good news is that Megan Fox will be bouncing around on the big screen again in just over a year, there will be some CGI robots there too.
Fast & Modified Show 2008 Info - Tuesday, 11th of March 2008
Since 2004 Scotland has had its very own modified car show through Fast & Modified and although this year there is still going to be a show, it's going to be slightly different. With the whole scene changing so much the name has changed too and the event will now be called The Scottish Modified Car Show - a bit like Ronseal it does exactly what it says on the tin. This years show date is a little later than before (only by a week) due to T In The Park moving their date forward, so put Sunday July the 20th in your diary.
Strathycruise will be having a display stand so if you would like to put your car forward for a space then email us at info@strathycruise.com with details, spec and a couple of photos (no 5mb pics please).
As more info comes out as to attractions we'll keep you updated here on the Strathy blog.

New Lotus Esprit On The Way - Wednesday, 5th of March 2008
I was stuck behind a mid 90's Lotus Esprit the other day and was thinking just how stuck in an 80's timewarp it looked. Taking cues from the Lambo Countach and sticking with chunky lines it just didnt sit nice on the road when mixed in with modern traffic. The good news is that a new Esprit is in the making and will give Lotus something with a bit of grunt to punt to the British public instead of just their Rover and Toyota powered gokarts. For info check the link.
Some ideas sound good in your head but dont work out so well when they are put into practise and it could be argued that this Celica falls into this category. The airbrushing work is second to none, its just that it looks wrong!

UK Modified Car Mags - Monday, 25th of February 2008
Every year the magazines publish their sales figures from the previous 12 months and the latest numbers have just been announced.
Future Publishing have managed to fight against the current tide within the modified car market and have shown a 4% increase in newsstand sales with FastCar while arch rival Max Power have dropped a massive 36% in the same time frame!
Where FastCar tell it like it is and don't claim to be high and mighty it looks like Max Power's turncoat antics have blown up in their face with the kids not buying anymore due to the lack of topless chicks and the serious enthusiast not interested in giving them another go now they've turned on a dime and are now a supposed "serious motoring magazine".
With Max Power selling over 250,000 copies a month only a few years ago and dropping to around 45,000 a month you really have to ask them - was all the tits and ass really worth it?
Congrats to FC on a great year and here's to many more as they've stuck to their guns and haven’t given two fingers to the scene that's helped support them for the past couple of decades.
Knight Rider 2008 - Wednesday, 20th of February 2008
Well it arrived, and it wasn’t quite as bad as everyone expected!
KITT - The Knight Industries Three Thousand appeared on American TV screens on Monday night and it wasn’t long before it filtered down to torrent sites so British viewers could grab a peek too. Gone is the legendary TransAm and in it's place is a semi-modified Ford Mustang which although nice doesn’t have quite the same appeal.
It might be down to the fact when the original series aired there wasn’t anything else on the road that had the same futuristic look of KITT but nowadays modified and performance cars are ten a penny. Either way the show wasn’t the worst and along with other new series based on older ideas (like the Sarah Connor Chronicles), KR08 passes the time quite nicely.
Go check it out at your favourite torrent site now!
