It's not very often that a car will appear suddenly from the wood work and create such a wave of excitement, but it happened only a short while ago when Dode unleashed his pearlescent RX8 on the unsuspecting Scottish scene.
The RX8 was made infamous on launch by incorporating many ideas usually only found on scale model concept cars at swanky motor shows. Suicide doors allow midgets entry to the rear of the car and no B pillars exist at all. It didn't have the usual piston and cylinder style engine used in 99% of the world's cars; instead Mazda decided to push their rotary technology popularised with their RX7 twin turbo. The Rensesis edition, as its called, produces up to 232bhp from standard without the aid of a turbo, supercharger or nitrous and once you add one or more of the former you have a missile on wheels just waiting to go. Dode's got his mind set on opting for a turbo, but that's going to have to wait until this winter when he feels its time to retire the car from the Scottish roads. |

One of the most striking things about the car is its colour. I've never seen a white one before. “Well that's because it used to be blue” Dode explained. Good, I don't feel as if I've been oblivious to traffic for the last 4 years. It turns out that it's only recently that Dode decided that a change was in order, and with his car giving him great service and reliability he wanted to improve instead of replace. “I managed to find some spare cash and decided that the car was as good a place as any to spend it” and with that he headed down to Nemesis to see what they could offer him for the Mazda.
Being known around the country as the place to go for high spec Jap modifications they knew right away what would look good on the car, and of course the colour change was going to be one of the first suggestions. With pearl white chosen Dode and Nemesis put their heads together and decided that VeilSide could take care of eye candy and Blitz would work behind the scenes. |

A genuine Lambo door kit from LSD was selected due to being the only insurance approved conversion system on the market (and therefore not hiking premiums up) and with a carbon bonnet and boot spoiler the transformation was almost complete.
The car was put off the road, stripped back, prepped and painted before being returned to a now more than happy owner. The VeilSide kit fits like a glove as you would expect (as its not a copy of a copy of a drawing by a 5 year old child of a real kit), there’s a brand new Blitz Sonic air filter sucking air from a custom air box up front and blowing gases out of the Magnaflow twin exhausts at the rear too. Lightweight racing alloys were tucked under the arches and complementary graphics in a metallic finish were crafted to the now extended body panels. To finish things off nicely a set of Color Magic under car intelligent LEDs were fitted which can be controlled by remote control in a variety of colours, patterns and brightnesses depending on how Dode feels. |

Since he's had the car back there hasn't been a spare moment in-between cruises, shows and late night driving.
And unlike some owners, Dode's perfectly happy for people to come over and have a good look around his car, it's actually been really hard to keep the number of photos of it at cruises down to a minimum as everyone wants to take snaps of it when its on show. |

The car WILL have to take a well earned rest in a month when Ron at MF2K disassembles it's innards and fits a tidy audio install. Once that's done it will be tarmac and fuel bills until winter time with stops at every cruise, meet or gathering in-between – so be sure to get along to your next cruise where Dode is almost guaranteed to be, along with his pearly white RX8. |
