Crail Thrash Max Power Part 1 Photos and Pics Gallery

We must have been mad to get up at 6am but it couldn't be helped. To meet folks at the park for 8 requires a lot of determination to crawl out of your pit at an ungodly hour and try to remember everything you will need throughout the day. We managed it, barely!

For once we arrived on time and joined the cruisers already assembled at the Holiday Inn carpark. Boycey was trying to change a wheel on his Corsa and Baz's Astra Turbo was only pumping with 3 cylinders, we hoped this wasn't a sign of things to come. Half 8 arrives and we depart, onto the motorway to begin our magical journey to the East Coast.

A quick stop off at the McDonalds at the Forth Road Bridge and we suddenly realise no-one has a clue how to get to Crail. Eventually Rab pipes up that he knows the way and to follow him. Oh how wrong was he! Passing a sign for Anstruther/Crail and instead heading to St. Andrews we begin to wonder if Rab's directional skills are as bad as our own. Passing through lots of small villages on the way and picking up a Police escort for part of the way we finally find ourselves at Crail. Not too bad and only about an hour later than we should have been.

We all knew this was the biggy of the year as far as Crail is concerned so I was dreading the half hour wait to get in. Thankfully there were 4 stewards at the entrance so we managed to get in less than 2 minutes! Things started to look up when we got our tickets and read the back, bloody hell, there's a LOT on today!

We got inside and parked up and went for a wander around to see to check out the sights, as well as top vehicles from the likes of Calder's there were thousands of quality cars from all over the country on show. Some of the highlights of the day would be the rodeo simulator which Yeti managed to get a shot on, VR Bodystyling customising a bog standard Corsa throughout the day (see photos below), Russ Swift's mini show, the Monster Truck experience, burnout competition, fairground rides and of course the amount of girls floating around (including the Ice Factory Limo girls, Liquorice Girls and the wet t-shirt comp).

We were impressed by everything we saw during the day and it's great to see that the owners of Crail Thrash have taken on board the comments that cruisers have made over the last few months. There were far more food vans so the queues were shorter, more toilets available and spaced evenly apart, the queues to get in were better organised and the security was top notch. Safety was also increased by adding barriers and fences around the drift ring and having more tyre walls around the 1/4 stretch.

We stayed from half 10 in the morning till just after 8pm and didn't even notice the sunburn until we were driving home. It was one of the best days at Crail I've had over the last 3 years of visiting and I can't wait for the next big day in June!

We arrived home around 10pm but Fraz and a few of the other lads weren't finished yet, they got home had a shower and headed back up the road to Perth for the Ice Factory Crail special.

A top day and night, we can't wait for the next one!
