Edinburgh Cruise Photos and Pics Gallery

Not knowing exactly where the cruise was taking place we decided to meet a few of the site regulars at the park to form a convoy, at about 8pm we decided that it was time to make a move so we ventured forth onto the M8 heading East bound. The trip across was fairly normal apart from a female cruiser not having a clue how convoys work and trying to muscle into a 2m gap, driving at 70mph and not indicating. The favour was returned shortly afterward and she kept back for the remaining leg of the journey.

On arrival at the cruise we were forewarned that the police had a few units sitting behind a hedge waiting for someone to do something out of the ordinary. We slowed down and crawled into the carpark to meet up with over 100 other cruisers who had gathered. All the shops in the retail park were closed and it was a nice dry summer night. The amount of police grew over the next couple of hours and every so often they would drive down and ask us questions "Why are you here?, Was this organised over the internet?, Where are you from?, Where are you going later?" standard questioning that our English counterparts get every week from the police. At one point in the evening we heard a roar and the sound of a dump valve releasing, then we saw Marc and his Skyline tiptoe into the cruise past the cops with the biggest "Oh!" face you've ever seen Smile

Credit where credit is due, there was no trouble at all at the cruise, the police were really good and didn't give anyone hassle (as far as we know) and everyone seemed to have a good time.

After a few hours, and many photos, we all headed off to get some McDonalds. While driving through the city a crowd of people started running towards us heading the wrong way along the road. The front runner was clutching a bag of money and the rest of the angry mob were chasing with bottles, bricks and anything else that could cause bodily discomfort. I hit the central locking switch and slowed down as they ran past, narrowly avoiding a broken Bud bottle in the middle of the road. After regaining our composure we arrived at McD's and headed in for some munch.

The staff didn't know what hit them, a full carpark and the overspill sitting across the road. After eating the place out we headed over to Carlton Hill where Edinburgh cruisers usually hang out at the weekend. Although mostly standard modded cars like you see every week at the park there were 3 stunning examples of hard earned cash spent properly. Two Pug Ecosse 206's, one in light metallic green, one in dark metallic blue; and a black FTO with the best neon's Ive ever seen. Since it was dark and only the street lights were on it is difficult to show how good the cars looked with the photos but believe me they were amazing! The green Pug will be on the front cover of Redline magazine in 2 weeks time, so check it out.

After getting tired (at 1am) it was time for some of us to head back home, so AJL, Petrolhead, Bex and myself jumped onto the motorway and blasted home.

My first Edinburgh cruise and definitely not my last, looking forward to the next one already!
