Edinburgh Races For Slips... - Wednesday, 29th of April 2009
ATM slips
Front page news in Edinburger yesterday highlighted an apparent new craze where, ahem, boy racers scoot between ATM machines, stopping off to get statements that prove the time and therefor how quick they can get from point A to point B.
Our comrades at the capital city EdinburghCruise website aren't too happy about being tarred with whatever brush the newspapers are using this week and for good reason.
More media bullshit or are 17 year olds really driving like Vin Diesel and Paul Walker across Queensferry before waiting in line at the cash point to get their slip.

Access Your Stuff Anywhere - Dropbox - Monday, 27th of April 2009
With everyone having at least 2 computers kicking around, getting at your files when you're all over the place can be tricky. There's some good sites out there that can help like YouSendIt and SendSpace but they are a bit clunky and you need to upload your stuff in a special way.
Well the good news is there is a free service with 2GB of space you can use right now on your PC, Mac or Linux box. It comes with software that acts pretty much like an additional hard drive so all you do is drag and drop the files you want to have access to and you're off. You can even put files in a PUBLIC area and then let your friends jump on and download files, music and videos from you.

AA Stick It Up The Arse of Modified Car Owners - Monday, 13th of April 2009
Last week the modified car world was in uproar thanks to those very nice men at the AA. Having enjoyed drawing our hard earned cash for many years for their break down cover they decided to take a great big shit on their customers proclaiming that if you're young and have a modified car that it's going to go at warp speed and kill everyone.
Chief spokesfud for the AA, Edmong King was on the BBC bumping his gums about trying to get the government to introduce new laws to clamp down on cars being modified to save lives. A lot of noise was made about "naws" which is one of the funniest parts of the whole sham, as we only know of a handful of people who actually have a nitrous kit fitted to their cars, and these aren't wet behind the ears 17 year old kids who've just passed their test!
Obviously designed to tie in with the release of the latest Fast & Furious movie, the AA are trying to get people riled up and look like the protectors of our roads (in an attempt to get more people to sign up for cover no doubt). The guys at Adrian Flux insurance have a great page up on their website absolutely slaughtering the lies and bullshit spouted by the AA and their lead henchman (it's a wonder his teeth aren't brown), including some actual FACTS instead of loose tongued fiction...
"Young drivers of modified cars are on average 20% less likely to have an accident and make a claim than young drivers in cars with a standard specification.
What are the reasons for this - well there are several:
. Modders are enthusiasts, more knowledgeable about cars than their peers
. They love their cars and take special care of them.
. The money spent on their cars is a significant proportion of their income, so they want to protect their investment.
. Modified car owners have also invested a lot of time in their vehicle - the prospect of doing all that work again in the event of a crash is not what they want."
Check out the following two links, the first for the BBC's bitesized video then Adrian Flux's response. We don't use the AA for break down cover or insurance and if this is the way they act then we'd recommend (as do Flux) that if you use them, you look elsewhere. Vote with your wallets folks!
