At the weekend Scotland's Fastest Plumber was doing what he does best (no, not fixing U bends) - ripping up the tarmac in his slightly modified R32. Having cured the mis fire that had pained him earlier this season he managed to improve his personal best by a few 100's of a second before popping a turbo pipe off. Here's what the big man had to say:

"The testing went very well set a new personal best and very happy that the bad misfire that we had has now been sorted.only done 3 runs yesterday.

The first run was to see if the misfire was still there I pulled away very slowly with a 3.2 60ft then gave it some stick to see if the misfire was there and the smile on Cords face said it all when I told him that the new TDC sensors he had fitted had done the trick,it reved out all the way with ease and still done 150 mph.

2nd run we went for a full on pass but with the new suspension set up we did not know what it was going to do off the startline,so I done a burnout to get some heat in the tyres then went into stage,we got loads of wheel spin and could only manage a 1.46 60ft with a ET of 8.98 at 159 mph,but the main thing was that the car was very stable and felt very safe.

For the third run we dropped the tyre pressures a bit and also took off some of the damping to get more grip off the line it worked a bit better with a 1.36 60ft,car felt very quick off the line but just after I went into 5th gear the turbo to intercooler pipe come off the cooler with a bang no boost had to coast over the line at 149 mph but I still got a new personal best of 8.85 seconds.

Back to the pits thinking that we will just pop the pipe back on but when we had a look it was fcuked it had come off at 3 bar bent right round onto the inner wing and was now oval
Good job Ben was booked in to make a bigger and better one

If the pipe had not been damaged i am sure with the changes we were making after every run would have see us run faster but it was not to be on the day "
